How We Ranked the Best Online Yoga Teacher Training Programs
Choosing an online yoga teacher training is one of the biggest investments you can make in your practice. With over 2,389 programs now offering online or hybrid formats, the options can feel overwhelming. We built this ranking to cut through the noise and surface the programs that consistently deliver for their students.
Every school on this list is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS) with verified student reviews. We rank using a Bayesian weighted rating system, which means a school needs both a high average score and a meaningful number of reviews to place well. A program with a 5.0 rating from three students will not outrank a program with a 4.95 from 400 graduates. This approach rewards consistency over luck.
We also factor in whether each program offers online classes, since many RYS schools have added virtual options alongside their in-person formats. Every school shown below has confirmed online availability through their Yoga Alliance profile. Programs span 200-hour foundational certifications and 300-hour advanced trainings, covering styles from Vinyasa flow to alignment-based Hatha, therapeutic yoga, and spiritually-oriented practices.
This list is updated regularly as new reviews come in. The schools below represent the programs that real students rate highest. No school can pay to be included or ranked higher. If a program is on this list, it earned its spot through student outcomes and satisfaction.

Frequently Asked Questions
How did you rank these online yoga teacher training programs?
We use a Bayesian weighted rating system that balances each school's average student review score with the total number of reviews. This prevents programs with only a few perfect scores from outranking schools with hundreds of consistently high ratings. All review data comes from verified student reviews on Yoga Alliance, and no school can pay for placement.
Are online yoga teacher training programs legitimate?
Yes. Yoga Alliance accepts online and hybrid training formats, and all programs listed here are Registered Yoga Schools (RYS). Graduates are eligible to register as RYT-200 or RYT-500 yoga teachers, the same credentials earned through in-person programs. Online formats have become widely accepted across studios and employers.
How much does an online yoga teacher training cost?
Online yoga teacher training programs typically cost between $1,000 and $5,000 for a 200-hour certification. Many schools offer payment plans, and some accept military spouse benefits (MyCAA) or GI Bill funding. Online programs are generally less expensive than in-person retreats because there are no travel, accommodation, or meal costs.
