Vikasa Yoga is an integral system of yoga, a philosophy and lifestyle based on traditional concepts of hatha yoga, adapted for the modern life in western society. Vikasa means evolution when translated from Sanskrit. We view practice of yoga as a tool for each human’s personal physical and spiritual development, which is, in essence, evolution. Every human being can contribute to the overall evolution of the species by evolving him/herself first. Therefore, the ultimate goal of this yoga system is realizing your maximum potential in creativity, consciousness and freedom. All aspects of traditional hatha yoga and Himalayan Vinyasa are present in Vikasa Yoga method, such as Asana (static pose), pranayama (control of energy through breath), concentration techniques, and meditation, as well as moral codes and behavior of the practitioner towards oneself, others and the environment. The practice is designed for maximum effectiveness and efficiency on the physical level, with safety being a top priority. Key principles and rules of yoga are taught, allowing the teachers of Vikasa Yoga and dedicated practitioners to become free from any routines by gaining understanding, knowledge and insight into the methodology and the effects of practice. This method will produce maximum results in the minimum amount of time, bringing your awareness and focus from external to internal level, leading to meditative states and awakening of consciousness and creativity. The idea is to integrate and balance all aspects of the human body, such as physical, energetic, emotional, intellectual and karmic through systematic practice of yoga, making the practitioner free and achieving the ultimate goal – happiness!

I completed my yoga teacher training with Vikasa in Koh Samui in Jan 2026 and found it to be a truly transformative experience. From 6 AM to 8 PM, you spend every day with your fellow students (30-40), teaching assistants (3-4), and a rotation of instructors (4-5) who cover the physical, philosophical, and emotional aspects to becoming a yoga teacher. The curriculum has been crafted over dozens of YTT cohorts and several years since its opening, and the instructors are committed to the craft for the long term. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a YTT program that has a comprehensive curriculum, experienced instructors, an ocean-side resort for peaceful introspection, focus on healthy food, and a friendly environment with other students to digest the learnings with.
This experience was life-changing, I am so happy to have done my training at Vikasa Yoga. I learned so much and dream of someday going in person to further my training.
