The goal of this Teacher training is to educate and train students how to teach a Hatha Yoga, Hatha-flow Yoga and Vinyasa style Yoga classes which are the primary styles James teaches on a weekly basis.
The intention is also to provide weekly coaching to students to help them develop and grow mentally, physically and spiritually looking at diet, Ayurveda, meditation, personal philosophy and self-healing etc. Therefore it is not necessarily only for those who want to be teachers but also for those who are looking to expand their knowledge in all areas of health, wellbeing, spirituality and yoga. James will provide coaching over the 11 month period to assist students reach their desired goals.
James lived and studied in India for 5 years completing his MA in Indian Philosophy in Varanasi, over a 3 year period. He will be the designated teacher for the TTC, teaching the majority of the syllabus. He will be assisted by Rachel Milnes, a highly qualified physiotherapist, who will teach part of the Anatomy and Physiology. Helen Dempster will teach Yin yoga and an introduction to pregnancy yoga. Anne-Marie Burford will teach Yoga Nidra and Restorative Yoga.
Students will preferably have 18 months Yoga experience if the intention is to teach Yoga after the course. Beginners are welcome and can expect to develop greatly over the year. Students will be expected to attend a weekly timetabled class with James during the year for extra support and assistance.
The start date is Friday 5th September 2025. The course will take place on Fridays, 10.30am-4pm, with a 40 min lunch break (equalling 5 hours pr day). It will run for a total of 36 Fridays which equals 180 contact hours and 20 hours of non-contact (NCH)/self study. We will take breaks around most of the major holidays and half terms to work around those participants who have children in schools whilst still reaching our 200 hours. We will not be able to work exactly to the Summer and Easter holidays due to the need to meet the hours required for the course.
The students will have 4 x 5 hour Non-Contact hour (NCH) periods (equalling 20 hours). This will give time during the course where students will take time to digest the information given to them by writing essays on the subjects covered and preparing their own led class and preparing for the final examination. These assignments are compulsory part of the course
Students are expected to attend the whole course however a minimum of 80% attendance of contact hours (144 hours, equating to the maximum of 7 Friday sessions missed) is necessary to qualify as a certified teacher, as well as completing all assignments and passing the final written and practical assessment.
To register for the course please send an initial £500 minimum non-refundable deposit (or the full amount), with the full amount being paid by 1st June 2025 to qualify for the early bird price (£2950). You are welcome to pay in instalments with the final payment being made before 1st August for the early bird price.
Otherwise the cost is £3200 to be paid in full before the start date 5th September 2025. Payments in pre-agreed instalments are possible (to be made before the course start date). Please discuss with James if you need more flexibility.
There are no refunds, before or during the course, unless the course is cancelled.
