At Safe & Sound Yoga, we teach yoga in its fullest expression — rooted in all eight limbs of the tradition. Our guiding belief is simple: yoga is not something we do; it’s something we are. When practiced in its true form, yoga naturally invokes grounding, clarity, presence, and connection.

Our approach moves beyond memorizing shapes or studying anatomy in isolation. Instead, we focus on somatic body awareness — learning to feel and entrain the body with experience so that teaching flows authentically from the inside out. Students develop the capacity to teach from their own embodied understanding to meet the unique needs of whoever is in front of them.

Our trainings are immersive and academic weave together yoga philosophy, functional movement, meditation, pranayama, sound healing, and pranayama / breathwork. Whether in our 200-Hour and 300-Hour Yoga Alliance–approved teacher trainings, Signature 40-Hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training, Kundalini Yoga, Sound Healing, Pranayama, or Meditation Teacher Trainings, each program is designed to cultivate skillful, conscious teachers who embody the heart of yoga; while elevating their self-awareness, experience, and consciousness.

All curriculum and program design is developed and delivered by co-founders Alex Petroyama (E-RYT 500) and Kelly Marrin (E-RYT 200), integrating over 40 years of combined practice and teaching. Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Mental Health from the University of Toronto, blending modern neuroscience with Eastern philosophy from yoga and martial arts; he is truly an expert level teacher and is our lead trainer. Kelly holds a four year business degree from the University of Western Ontario; she is a yoga teacher, somatic breathwork facilitator, and sound healer who guides on the mat and behind the scenes given her background in business strategy and program development.

Whether you join us in Toronto’s West End or online, our mission is the same: share consciousness, knowledge, tools and experience that can improve lives; and train teachers and practitioners into embodied understanding, where yoga becomes not just something you do, but something you are.
