Our Approach

Today more than ever, yoga is asking us to step into leadership roles within the perinatal world, imbuing ancient traditions with modern context to inspire new possibilities for pregnant people, new families, and the communities that support them. Our training immerses you in the full yogic path as it relates to the sacred journey of pregnancy and birth, supporting alignment, empowerment, and optimal wellness for both teacher and student.

We integrate the ancient traditions of yoga with contemporary perinatal care. We think of the yoga system as a vast, whole tradition that evolved into many streams — Vedanta, Tantra, and Samkhya — and many paths, including Bhakti, Karma, and Jnana. Through precision in movement (asana), pranayama (breathing practice), meditation, and self-study, we explore ways to embody yoga through practice and its application in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum life.

You Will Learn:

ALIGNMENT + PRENATAL ANATOMY Gain in-depth knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and physiology specific to pregnancy and the postpartum body. Develop a greater understanding of the neurological, emotional, energetic, and physical effects of yoga on the pregnant person. Deepen your experiential knowledge of breath and its profound effect on the nervous system, psychology, and spiritual experience of pregnancy. Explore subtle anatomy and alignment guidelines for safe, supportive practice throughout all trimesters.

PHILOSOPHY + THE YOGIC PATH Discover the subtle energy of yogic anatomy and how the chakras relate to pregnancy, birth, and new life. Explore Ashtanga philosophy and the Eight-fold path as a framework for teaching. Study and discuss the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita, and more. Learn about Ayurveda, nutrition, and yogic principles as they support the perinatal journey.

LEADERSHIP + SELF-EMPOWERMENT Gain the tools and resources to create and inspire change in yourself and your community. Release self-limiting beliefs and step into your power as a leader in the perinatal wellness space. Connect to your inner teacher and learn how to leverage your skills and strengths with your unique purpose. Learn how to nurture compassionate relationships, healthy families, and a supportive, sustainable birth culture.

THE ART OF TEACHING PRENATAL & POSTPARTUM YOGA Build and deepen your personal practice while developing tools for emotional resilience. Learn alignment, benefits, and precautions of principal asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and kriyas (cleansing techniques) as they apply to pregnancy. Master the fundamentals of alignment, sequencing, theme weaving, and modifications across all trimesters and for diverse populations. Develop skills for teaching a range of class styles — from general prenatal yoga to specialized birth preparation and early postpartum. Gain hands-on experience through practice teaching and mentorship, receiving feedback in a warm, supportive environment. Learn techniques for introducing yoga and mindfulness to diverse communities within the perinatal world.

BIRTH WISDOM + WHOLE WELLNESS Reconnect with the body's innate wisdom and the sacred intelligence of the birth process. Explore the intersection of yoga, birth work, and holistic perinatal care as tools to bring your practice off the mat. Deepen your understanding of how to support pregnant people through movement, breath, and mindfulness. Learn to design your teaching life in alignment with your values, skills, passion, and unique leadership style.

I loved all of the content and learned more than I was expecting to from this training! I completed the course while pregnant myself, which was really special. There isn't any prenatal yoga offered in my area so I'm grateful I was able to get certified and offer prenatal classes now.

I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from Julia and her thoughtfully curated team of experts. I walked away from this training feeling prepared and ready to step into a classroom and help create a safe space for pregnant people to move and connect.
