Heart N Soul Yoga School
About Heart N Soul Yoga School
Heart N Soul Yoga School, located in Fairfax, Virginia (just 30 minutes from downtown Washington DC), is excited to offer a dynamic and transformative Hybrid 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training Program. We graduated our first class of RYT-200 students in Summer 2021 and look forward to our next program in the fall.
For a decade, Lead Trainer Isabella Gutfreund's (RYT-200 since 2003, with over 17 years of teaching experience in the DC Area and internationally) students have asked her to share her wealth of knowledge with the masses. Until now, she did not have the physical space or a fantastic team of teachers to facilitate a program. Coming out of the pandemic, we are blessed with Zoom connections and our new studio space in Fairfax City, Virginia to finally make this a reality!
ABOUT OUR 200 HR PROGRAM
We’re offering a hybrid program with in-person and online training encompassing 200 hours of yoga teacher instruction in our spacious 1000 sq feet practice space, including 40 online hours of phenomenal instruction from David Keil’s Online Anatomy Course and Swami Tadatmananda’s Meditation Course: “The Inner Journey”. All of our teachings are based on Ashtanga-style yoga. Our class sizes are small (8 students in the Spring/Summer 2021 Co-Hort), to ensure lots of personal attention. Our community is inclusive and diverse, with practitioners ranging from ages 6 to 80. We have built the training from the best practices of knowledge and training programs we’ve experienced as teachers, philosophy students, and asana practitioners.
ABOUT OUR 100HR PROGRAM**
Yes, we are offering an option for those who do not wish to teach but are taking this training to deepen their understanding of the yoga practice, anatomy/physiology/biomechanics, history, and philosophy. Email our Studio Manager Laura for more information:
PROGRAM GOALS

We are running our Hybrid Yoga Teacher Training Program to give you some space and time to easily integrate into your busy and sometimes unpredictable schedule. While the majority of instruction time will be in-person, there are important modules which you can study in your own free time. You will be challenged, inspired, and stretched beyond your comfort zone! We are prepared to instruct trainees representing many ages, backgrounds, and body types on how to:
- Amplify and express their Voice as a yoga teacher - Show themselves as creative individuals - Guide students to reach their potential - Become lifelong learners - Exude confidence throughout their lives, and - Express gratitude for their past teachers and experiences.
EXPECTATIONS OF YOGA-TEACHER TRAINEES
We have set the following guidelines for our hybrid-program participants. We take a holistic approach to our training so our teachers adopt a mindful yoga lifestyle.
Upon graduation, we expect our teachers will be:

SCHOOL'S LINEAGE
At Heart N Soul Yoga School, we make every effort to connect modern yoga to the teachings of the ancient traditions of Yoga and Vedanta, from Ancient India. We recognize that practices evolve as the world progresses and make every effort to honor the past, which inspires the present and carries us into the future.
Our school's lineage is based on the vinyasa-teachings of Krsnamacarya. Our school is also deeply influenced by the Vedanta and Sanskrit teachings in the Arsha Vidya tradition of Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati, and from Ashtanga teachers such as David Swenson, David Kyle, and John Scott.

Student reviews
Mixed mode of self-paced online learning with several weekend intensive in-person sessions was a good combination that worked well. I felt safe and comfortable asking any questions that came up. The program was just right for me. The marketing class at the end was very practical and relevant for teaching responsibly with intention.
The training was excellent, lots of details, encouragement, and personal attention. I would recommend this to anyone seeking to become a yoga teacher.
