Spanda Institute at Sri Lanka

About this retreat

Spanda Institute (formerly Sangha Om Yoga School and Spanda Vinyasa Yoga School) is an International Yoga Institute offering programs in Europe (Portugal, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia etc.), Sri Lanka and India. We also provide online education either live via zoom or through our Spanda Online education platform. Through our 200-hour, 300-hour and Prenatal YTTC, we have certified hundreds of Yoga Teachers worldwide. Our Yoga programs are based on the comprehensive Spanda Yoga Method created by the Institute's founder Nina Vukas (E-RYT 500, RPYT, IAYT) and enriched by our proficient faculty. The method is based on the latest understanding of Functional Movement, Biomechanics and Physiology. We intend to integrate ancient wisdom and modern science, finding their meeting points. Consequently, our approach is multidisciplinary; rooted in Tantric and Hatha Yoga teachings, Classical Yoga Philosophy and Ayurveda, and sciences such as Anatomy & Physiology, Biomechanics, Neuroscience and Psychology. Regarding the History and Tradition of Yoga, we teach in a non-dogmatic, research-informed way. Our teachings are based on Nature's cycles, supporting the gentle unfolding of our body/mind. For us, Yoga is an art of healing and flowing with the creative pulse of everything (Spanda). We believe that Yoga is for everybody, but not the same Yoga is for everybody, so we have developed different sequences to serve the needs of each individual. Once our students leave the 200-hour training, they can teach themed sequences adjusted to the group (beginners, intermediate, advanced) and the day/month/seasonal cycle. All of our Teacher Trainers have been trained in a Trauma Sensitive Yoga approach to teaching, and our in-person Teacher Training groups are small, giving a lot of individual intention. Once our students receive their diplomas, we stay connected and help them on their Yoga Teacher journey. We are committed to sustainability; our events are carbon neutral. Through our Yogis4Future initiative, we are offseting carbon by planting trees and helping local communities. Lean more

What students say

★★★★★

This teacher training has been a great experience from the very start. The entire program is very well structured, with detailed literature and resources provided, giving you a strong foundation for both teaching and improving your personal practice. It covers yoga philosophy, history, anatomy, asanas, and pranayama in depth, yet everything is presented in a clear and accessible way. It also encourages you to continue studying and exploring everything that yoga has to offer. I attended the in-person training in Maribor, Slovenia, and Anja is a wonderful teacher. It was always a pleasure to spend the weekends there, and I always left feeling enriched with new knowledge.

★★★★★

For me, Spanda Institute offers high-quality training programs that have supported and guided me throughout my journey as a yoga teacher. I first completed the Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training with Spanda and Gea Krajcar, followed by the 200-hour YTT and the Safe Space – Trauma-Sensitive Yoga training. At the moment, I am studying their Chakra Flow program. I would definitely recommend Spanda Institute to everyone who is at the beginning of their yoga teaching path or somewhere in between, as it is always valuable to gain more knowledge and practical tools for growth.
