Heights Meditation & Yoga

About this retreat

Much of our lives are spent worrying about our futures and regretting our pasts. The mind oscillates between the two as a kind-of cautionary tail to help us avoid anything dangerous or painful. That is the work of the untamed, obsessive mind.

In meditation, we learn techniques that counter this obsessive thinking. We learn how to to observe our thoughts rather than consciously and unconsciously engaging with them, and we re-train our cognition to accept the passage of time as a natural and consistent part of living so that past and future become less important than where we are right here, right now. The present moment is the only true reality, everything else is imagined.

At Heights Meditation & Yoga, we understand that yoga is the an integral part of meditation. We use our yoga practice to guide the mind through the physical sensations of movement in order to become fully conscious of our body-sense. In this way, yoga bridges the mind, body and essence of who we are. Yoga teaches us how our bodies move, how to breathe, and how to be in the world. We can only be present in the moment if we are fully embodied.

It can be difficult to maintain a consistent practice alone. Group practice supports our commitment to ourselves to further develop clarity, equanimity, and insight into our daily lives. And fellow meditators often share their techniques and experiences that help further everyone's personal practices. At HMY, we have built a community of people who have found or are looking for ways to be free from past regrets and worry about the future so that we can live our lives to fullest — with the best health in both body & mind. Á santé! Para la salud! To health!

Heights Meditation & Yoga is a community organization dedicated to bringing the practices of meditation & yoga to everyone interested in integrating more clarity, equanimity, and insight into their daily lives.
