About this retreat
College of the Desert is a beautiful community college in the heart of the Coachella Valley. The Yoga Teacher Training program is a career path option of study or enrichment that is housed in the Kinesiology department. The YTT program has access to state of the art facilities and unique and innovative yoga props to promote kinesthetic learning.
The program, courses and curriculum was written and founded in 2018 by Associate Professor of Kinesiology Wendy Ansley, RYT 500, MA in Kinesiology. Wendy Ansley is very passionate about yoga, health and wellness and has practiced for 21 years. She has been a full time instructor at College of the Desert for over 27 years and wanted the ability to provide teaching skills to students as well as cultivate a deeper personal practice. She truly believes that Yoga is a gift and that Yoga is the science of healthy living.
Wendy's favorite styles of yoga are Vinyasa, Hatha and Power. She has studied under Reegan Lessie in San Diego and world renowned author Mark Stephens in Santa Cruz. Wendy has studied and read numerous yoga books, attends workshops, and makes time for online learning for personal growth. She appreciates multiple paths and styles of yoga and encourages each student to find a sense of autonomy and unique fit for their own future teaching. Wendy is also very connected and supportive to local Yoga businesses, country clubs, gyms, recreation centers and hotels.
