AUM Home Shala

About this retreat

AUM hOMe Shala is a nonprofit, IAYT-accredited yoga therapy school dedicated to advancing the therapeutic benefits of yoga through teaching, research, and training. Now offered online, our programs make yoga therapy education and practice accessible to people everywhere.

We provide free weekly classes made possible through grant funding and community partnerships, and when additional funding allows, we extend scholarships to ensure that financial barriers never prevent participation. Our outreach includes specialized programs for children, adolescents, seniors, and those living with chronic health conditions, disabilities, or other challenges—populations often underserved in traditional wellness spaces.

Our mission is to encourage people of all ages and abilities to embrace yoga as a foundation for personal well-being and as a pathway to a more compassionate, revitalized society. In addition to our community classes, we offer specialized therapeutic trainings for yoga teachers, healthcare professionals, and those committed to integrating yoga into holistic approaches to health and healing.

★★★★★

I began my yoga teacher journey when I was recommended to AUM hOMe Shala by my local yoga teacher mainly because of my interest in the therapeutic aspects of Yoga. I was lucky enough to attend their annual Yoga Therapy students presentation, Guru Kula, and I was hooked. I met with the founder and director Melinda and my journey of yoga training and foundation began. What really made the choice to study in this school easy wasn’t just the first impression of model, teachers and students but the fact that their purpose is to serve special populations of people and children. AUM works with people who have Alzheimer’s, dementia, mental health, giving back by offering free online weekly classes. Their way of giving back to people sets them apart from other schools I researched. The entire curriculum of classes, the amazing teachers and their classes filled with quality work and teaching, materials and training was beyond and above. The best part is that AUM is also a yoga therapy school and their classes and teachers incorporated this knowledge into their classes and trainings, it makes this yoga school even more special and makes it stand out. I felt supported and mentored the entire time during and after classes. Their professional profound knowledge, philosophy of teaching with mindfulness for each student makes this school exceptional and I would recommend it to anyone looking to study and train in yoga. They offer many classes on various topics that keeps opening doors to different areas of yoga. I am looking forward to continuing my teacher training with them including my future into yoga therapy. I will recommend this school 100% to anyone. Check out their website and see for yourself the countless opportunities to expand your knowledge in yoga. Thank you Melinda, AUM teachers and everyone who supports this school.
