About this retreat
Arise Yoga is founded on the belief that yoga is meant to be practiced primarily off the mat. That the flexibility and strength we develop from the asanas, the clarity discovered in meditation, the calm and energy cultivated through pranayama, and the connections we make between breath and body in classes - all must be translated into our daily life. To put it clearly, and succinctly: as a collective studio, and individual teachers and staff members, when issues come up, we use the teachings from our practice and… we roll with it.
Transparency and nonviolent communication are the guiding principles of our relationships. Feedback and proactive checking in is how we develop programming and maintain strong ties to the needs of our communities. Generosity (putting our money where our priorities are) and consistent action is how we marry the quest for peace and the necessary disruption of social justice activism.
We practice yoga together, in these beautiful and thoughtfully designed spaces, so we can support each other’s practice out in the messy, gorgeous, imperfect, evolving world.
It needs us. It needs you. Arise.
